SAXON – 40th Anniversary Tour – “Eagles and Castles Show”
Saxon will be celebrating 40 years of career in 2019. A life dedicated to the purest brand of heavy metal by a band that’s never played a bad show and never diminished their intensity, as we’ve witnessed at Rock Fest Barcelona more than once. Now, with this classics-fueled show with a stage show to match the importance of the celebration, Saxon are back exclusively at Rock Fest Barcelona 2019 as one of the few and select festivals that will hold the anniversary shows by the british legends.

Kai Hansen’s gamma rays are back! After a technical stop for a few years due to the succesful Helloween reunion that played Rock Fest Barcelona last year, Hansen is starting the engines on Gamma Ray once again for some selected summer festival shows. It’s been five years since the last studio record, “Empire of the Undead”, and after a well done re-release campaign of their classic records, the interest for Gamma Ray is at a maximum. Songs like “Heaven Can Wait”, “Rebellion in Dreamland” and “Send Me A Sign” will make us travel to power metal paradise.

In 2017 main Rhapsody members Luca Turilli and Fabio Lione came back together for a celebratory 20th Anniversary Tour and remind us that they were able to change the face of power metal with their brand of epic and symphonic songwriting. Now, under the name Turilli/Lione Rhapsody the band will show that they still have a lot to offer and with their classic line-up -save for keyboard player Alex Staropoli who is not around- they will be coming for the first time ever to Rock Fest Barcelona to make us sing “Emerald Sword”, “Holy Thunderforce” and so on. Anthems of a generation and an era in the always evolving history of heavy metal.

This last september Krokus announced that 2019 would be devoted to saying goodbye to the world’s stages after a 45 year career. As a prog band until they found their heavy metal identity in the early 80’s with record such as the eternal “Headhunter”, Krokus are now saying farewell with a unique and very special show in Spain. One of the most hard working bands in rock is departing and Rock Fest Barcelona will be their way of saying “Adios Amigos” to Spain.

Even though the orthodox brand of black metal came from Norway in the early 90’s, no one can deny the impact that Cradle of Filth had when it comes down to making the genre popular. Now on a sort of renainssance thanks to record such as the most recent “Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness of Decay” and with a new line up where Dani Filth is still the man in charge, the fans of the best symphonic black metal will have a great day at Rock Fest Barcelona.

Generally, when one things about the most outrageous band in history, one must think of Cannibal Cropse. The americans are coming for the first time to Rock Fest Barcelona to show us what brutality means in death metal. Led by the always menacing George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, Cannibal Corpse are still on the cycle of their most recent studio record, “Red Before Black”. Get your necks ready and enjoy this night of poetry about corpses and mutilation.

From Glasgow, GUN is one of the bands that best encapsule what hard rock was in the UK back in the early 90’s. Their 1989 debut effort “Taking on the World” took the world by surprise as much as their support slot with the Rolling Stones the following year. Similar guest spots with giants like Def Leppard and Bon Jovi followed. Massive success came with “Swagger” and their cover of the song “Word Up!” in 1994, but not even that could avoid a band splitting in 1997.
They came back in 2008 with new singer Toby Jepsen and then bassist Dante Gizzi took the spot to finish giving shape to the new GUN. Records like “Frantic” and “Favourite Pleasures” have kept the band busy and interesting and their level of energy on stage is still enough to light up a small city.

British legends RAVEN are one of the best prepared alumni of the NWOBHM. They came recently as guests of Saxon and they were very eager to be back to our country.
Formed in Newcastle in 1974 by brothers John and Mark Gallagher, the band became part of a movement led by Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and other bands that made the UK the world capital for heavy metal in the early 80’s. Records such as “Stay Hard” and “The Pack is Back” in the mid 80’s brought them success. Now they survive as soldiers of fortune and still kick ass on stage.

After growing in SKID ROW in the 80’s and 90’s, Sebastian Bach has mantained an interesting and dignified solo career after splitting with the hard rock heroes at the end of the 90’s. His brand of american heavy metal (no joking, he has a song called “American Metalhead” for a reason) and his unstoppable energy on stage are highly addictive.
The singer will offer a show full of his own songs but also the anthems that made SKID ROW so big, such as “Youth Gone Wild” and “I Remember You”.
